Stardoll and 'The Bubble'

I've been writing for this blog for a few months now. In all that time, I feel like I haven't shared any of my real, non-embellished thoughts with you. Those are some of my personal favorite posts to read and write, especially when I'm in a writer's block frame of mind. I can still give you something to read and I can have fun and let go through writing the post. Here it goes, and I hope you enjoy it [if you do, tell me in the comments section and I'll do more impromptu posts when I get inspired].

Tonight I read a post Lia wrote on MDM called 'Lesson Learned' [you might see my little rant about the CW in the comments section; check it out by clicking on the title, mentioned above]. I loosely interpreted it as the way the media, specifically television, can nurture the dreamers and romanticists in the teenage population. TV shows on the CW that are targeting female audiences, for example, normally have a complicated love web weaved into the storyline. To me, the love stories they portray are epic; the couples they create are either the cutest darn thing I've ever seen or the worst case of forbidden love that makes my heart ache sympathetically. As Lia said, they not only create this perfect/bittersweet picture of relationships, but they also give us young girls unrealistic expectations for things like prom and first kisses. Most of us don't get a 'reality check' that 'pops our bubbles' until we experience these things first hand and realize that life can't be scripted the same way The Vampire Diaries is.

In the same way, I think that Stardoll is a 'reality check' for a lot of us. Parents, by nature, want to protect their kids and put them in a 'bubble'. While growing up in a safe, nurturing environment is best for a child's emotional health and well-being, there comes a time when us kids all need to step outside of those 'bubbles' and stand face to face with some cruel people that are alive today. I wish we all lived in a world where no one would have to develop a thick outer skin, but unfortunately, that's not the case; we'll all eventually be in situations of helplessness and vulnerability when someone takes out the sharpest needle they have and penetrates our soapy, protective layers. Instead of having one traumatic incident that leaves you forever scarred, Stardoll gradually shows you the complete picture. You start to witness certain incidents of people rubbing each other the wrong way as you peruse Guestbook messages. You're never abruptly jolted into the world around you, so when that day comes and you get your first taste of hate, you're more equipped to deal with it. Through communicating with other kids and teenagers around the world, you can learn to cooperate with others while still asserting yourself, and handle social situations that go awry. Making these mistakes and learning from them in an environment where you can always log out and start over can save you the headache of having to deal with the aftermath your actions cause in your real life. A virtual website such as this can, in fact, change who you are and who you will become.

If I have a daughter [maybe even a son if the site interests him] in the future, despite all the lewd and inappropriate behavior, I would certainly allow her to come on this site and learn those lessons for herself. I would be right alongside her making sure she came out of her 'bubble' as slowly and as painlessly as possible.

How did you first learn about harsh criticism? How did you take it at first?
Has your experience on Stardoll been a positive one? Would you let your future children on here knowing what goes on?

Tell me in the comments!
Thank you for reading!

Until next time,
Victoria (Daddysangel02)

  2. Thanks so much!
I don't know, to be honest...
We don't correspond very much so I don't know much about what's going on in their lives right now.
I assume it's just their real lives getting in the way of posting.
That's completely understandable as school and life come first and Stardoll is a far cry away from even coming 10th in most people's lives.
It would be nice if we could get some new writers, though, cause I don't have a ton of time on my hands to post either.
    I should suggest it :)

  3. Hi, well yes I am still a writer for this blog but I dunno if I'm gonna be one for long, I just don't have time to post anymore I log in to stardoll now and again stay online for like 10 minutes and log back out, it just doesn't seem to interest me anymore :/ Maybe I'll try post sometime soon but its just my Stardoll life is nearly dead now and I'm sorry to have you spend your precious time writing for this blog when I should really be doing it for you but yeah like you said my life is pretty damn busy at the moment, its not like I'm some 11 year old who comes home from school, does 5 minutes homework, goes on stardoll then goes to bed, I have hours of homework nowadays and I just cant afford to spend my time on Stardoll anymore. I will try find some new writers to help you as some of the others have left and one or two have got some busy stuff going on in there lives at the moment but if not then I'll try fit some time in my schedule to write, don't worry :) remember writing for this blog isn't a must so if you ever wanna give the job to someone else then I'll have a look for someone if ya want.
(I am Loob3 by the way but my blogger accounts somehow dissappeared this is my other one so if I'm gonna carry on writing I need to figure out how to sort that out first)

    1. Oh goodness, how did that happen with your blogger account? :S That's awful! Did you talk to Boo4bettz about it? By the way, are you an admin/did Boo4bettz give you control over the blog? I'm just a writer I believe, so I can't add anyone or make any changes to the blog, I can only write. I would definitely try and find some people if I could (people have actually already asked me to join the blog), but I don't have that ability. I understand that this isn't a must to write for the blog; it's something I do in my spare time, which now is harder to find than before since I have some medical issues going on and I'm living out of a suitcase, lol. I just feel bad that this blog isn't as active as it used to be. This blog is one of the only ones of its kind, and I think it's the most popular and most-followed one. I don't want to see it go to ruin because I can't post and you guys can't post either. I'm kind of powerless as I said since I'm only a writer. I didn't mean to sock you one in a petty way or anything; if I actually had a real problem with you not posting, I would've come to your Stardoll account and talked about it there. It's no big deal, I completely understand! I meant for my comment to show that, cause I know what it's like to be bogged down with homework and have so many books in your backpack that you can't carry it home on your own. It's so hard to have a social life with that kind of stress, let alone have an SD social life, if that's what you can call it. Don't stress about anything! I'm here, I have a job on this blog, and I'll do it to the best of my ability. So, I shall close with the words of George Lopez: I got thisssss!!

      ;D

  4. My first taste of hate was when i was 4. I started Kindergarten and all these other kids made fun of me because of my age. THat still happens today. When i was 7 and started cheerleading, my coach hated my beacuse i was more flexible than her daughter, the main flyer. The coach, in turn made me stand in the back for no reason, only because i made 1 mistake. To this day, when i am a flyer, If i mess up, i get so worried, thinking i will be kicked out or do nothing, like it happened before. People think because i am young means they think i am an object, a subhuman. I am not, I have feelings too.

  5. He is no scam, I tested him and he delivered a good job, he helped me settle bank loans, helped my son to increase his grades at high school final year and he also gave him automatic scholarship into college, all i had to do was to settle the bills for tools on the job and gave him the necessary information and he did the rest, I  was hopeless before not knowing what to do but thanks to brillianthckers800@gmail.com I am now a happy man free from troubles, sharing this is how I can show gratitude for all he has done for me and my family.
